Lakeshore All Sports HOF announces 2015 class

The Lakeshore All Sports Hall of Fame announced its class of 2015 enshrinees recently with six set for induction.

The 2015 class is comprised of Gregg Ebert, Greg Jahnke, Guido and Vicki Lenaerts, Paul Meany (post-humously) and Donna Pivonka. The banquet will be held April 29, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn in Manitowoc.

Greg Ebert

Ebert, from Reedsville, played four years of baseball at Reedsville before coaching varsity boys basketball for Necedah High School where he won six conference and regional championships. Ebert retired with 405 career wins and was elected to the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame in 2008. In addition, he was the varsity baseball at Necedah winning two conference titles. Ebert also brought football back to Necedah a 33 year absence.

Greg Jahnke

Jahnke (Manitowoc) quarterbacked Roncalli to the first WISSA State Championship Game as a junior in 1969. He was also an all-state defensive back in 1969 and 1970. Jahnke spent 35 years as an assistant coach for the Jets’ football team while serving as head coach for the 1988-89 seasons. He was part of three WISAA State Football Championship Teams and one State runner-up squad. Jahnke will be inducted into Wisconsin Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in March.

Guido and Vicki Lenaerts

Guido and Vicki (Manitowoc) are best known for their tireless work for bringing soccer into the lakeshore area. Guido is the on-field face of a lot of youth and high school soccer played in the area while Vicki works behind the scenes keeping track of all the paperwork. They started the Goalgetters Soccer Club in 1995 while being instrumental in starting the Lake-to-Lake Youth Soccer Organization that encompasses many area communities and also running youth programs and summer camps.

Paul Meany

Meany (Manitowoc) was a three-time letter winner in basketball and tennis at Manitowoc Lincoln. He holds or held 29 different basketball scoring records at Lincoln, including holding the school scoring record for 48 years. Meany was 1st team all-state in basketball in 1960 and 1961. He was a member of the 1960 state championship and 1961 state runner-up tennis teams.

Donna Pivonka

Pivonka (Valders) earned 10 varsity Letters (four in basketball, three in volleyball and three in track and field) from Valders. She received all-conference honors in basketball and volleyball while joining the 1,000 point scorer club. Pivonka played four years of college basketball at UW-Stevens Point and is the all-time assists leader for the Pointers. She was a member of 1986-87 Division III National Champion basketball team at Point. Pivonka is a member of the UW-Stevens Point Hall of Fame.

Ticket orders for the banquet are now being accepted with limited space of 475 tickets available. Tickets are $25 each or a table of 10 for $235.
